Time interval: July 10th – 14th 2017

Schedule for grades 1 – 4: 09:00 – 10:30AM (08:00 - 11:00, for those parents who got to work at 8).

Schedule for grades 5 - 8: 05:00 – 07:00 PM There can be flexibility, regarding the schedule, if parents ask.

4 days, 1, 5 hours/day

Objective: The Astronomy Workshop wants to open children interest to new domains through information that is not always available to them in a accessible form and stimulating their interest in Astronomy through actively involving them in interactive activities. Also, pupils will be familiarised with notions and basic concepts in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Cosmology, developing their knowledge regarding the objects and phenomena in the cosmic space.

Themes There will be theoretically and practically approaches themes as: the celestial vault and constellations; identifying main stars and constallations of the summer Son; the Moon; deep-sky objects.

Program:

July 10th, Workshop 1 – Observing the Day sky
Horizon; astronomical objects that can be seen during day; the Son, celestial coordinates; sky observing history.

July 11th, Workshop 2 – Observing the Night Sky
Stars, constellations, planets, the Moon, artificial satellites
Astronomical Phenomena: Falling stars, plants distances, Moon and planets phases, Son and Moon eclipses.

July 13th, Workshop 3 – Solar System Journey
Earthly planets, Jovian planets; asterois; comets; large scale Universe

July 14th, Workshop 4 – Cosmic Objects out of our solar System (Visual Guide of the Universe with Imiges taken out with the world`s biggest telescopes)
Stars (birth and death), gas clouds, stellar swarms, galaxies, the Sun`s life time, double stars, exoplanets, distances in the Universe, the sky in various wavelengths.
